United States

The main role for the United States team is funding development, financial and program oversight, and support for new program development.

The Executive Director, Deborah Brown Magaya, who has lived in Tanzania since 2019, works with the Country Directors in Tanzania and Kenya to deliver programs and assist with local growth of the organization.

Deborah is supported by members of the Board, the Executive Secretary and Sponsorship Coordinator, the Media Specialist, and the US Bookkeeper to raise funds for the work in East Africa and coordinate operations.

Country Leaders

We have one Country Director overseeing Kulea Villages work in each country. The Directors work closely with local social workers, community leaders, area clinics, and hospitals to ensure we provide services to the neediest families in our communities. Our criteria consider both need and a caregiver's commitment to building a better future for themselves and their children through education, skill development, and work.

Our Country Directors review each referred family before engaging our team of social workers to guide them on a one to two year journey with Kulea Villages. The Directors also work closely with community leaders to support caregivers business startups, fostering a joint support system for the family.  We believe a child needs a family to thrive, and a family benefits significantly from a community.

Tanzania

Paul Magaya has been our Country Director in Tanzania since March 2019. Paul comes to us with a strong history in Tanzania's Education system and a passion for supporting families. He was educated at the University of Dar es Salaam and has held leadership positions in Tanzania’s Ministry of Education, as well as establishing a flight school in Dar es Salaam for pilots. Paul's Christian faith influences all areas of his life.

Paul is assisted by an excellent team of four social workers, a bookkeeper and a groundskeeper. The Kulea Villages social work team in Tanzania is ready to help more families when funding allows.

Kenya

Dalmas Nazi is the Pastor of Manna Bible Church in Likoni, Kenya, and has served as our Country Director since Kulea Villages started work in Kenya in 2011.

Dalmas was educated at the Baptist Seminary in Arusha, Tanzania, and later received his Master of Divinity degree from Uganda Baptist Seminary. He established Manna Bible Church in 2007 and later founded the Mombasa School of Theology, where his passion for bringing theological education to pastors who cannot afford it is realized. Throughout his ministry, Dalmas has consistently focused on helping orphans, vulnerable children living in poverty, and children living on the streets. Through Kulea Villages, he leads our work supporting children’s education, providing counseling and support to families in crisis, and offering small-business training to build self-sustaining families.

Dalmas is assisted by one field coordinator handling social work in Kenya and one bookkeeper who also assists the field coordinator with home visits and counseling especially in the area of business.
