About Kulea Villages

Kulea Childcare Villages was founded in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States. Subsequently, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) or local non-profit organizations were formed in Tanzania and Kenya. Since Kulea Villages began, we have grown in our mission and in our financial management. This year, 2026, you are seeing an expanded website with more details about the specific services we provide to support families in Tanzania and Kenya.

Deborah Brown Magaya has lived in Tanzania for the past 7 years, helping build a strong infrastructure to support the vision for Kulea Villages. She has intentionally worked to develop systems and leadership to sustain the organization into the future.

Program Leadership

The Executive Director resides in Tanzania and regularly travels to Kenya. In both Tanzania and Kenya, a Country Director oversees development and day-to-day operations with their team. This oversight has a strong connection with the community in programs, support, and engagement with the Kulea Villages mission.
