Mission Trip Stories
Real Stories. Real People. Real Impact.
Fellowship Church
May 2026
A team from Fellowship Church traveled to Tanzania to encourage and care for the Kulea Villages staff through a week of ministry and fellowship.
During their visit, they led a one-day staff retreat focused on counseling skills, provided individual counseling sessions for staff members, and treated the team to a day of rest and recreation at Mbudya Island. They also supported the Maisha Matters program and joined staff on home visits to connect with families in the community.

A Nurse's Heart
April 2026 (Ongoing)
After first visiting Kulea Villages two years ago, one volunteer returned to Dar es Salaam this spring and has since become a faithful volunteer with our Maisha Matters program. Using her nursing experience, she checks on babies, encourages caregivers, and supports our team each visit. Her compassionate heart and consistent presence have been a tremendous blessing to the families we serve.
Azmera Leaders
February 2026
The leadership team of the February Azmera retreat in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania had the opportunity to visit Kulea Villages during the week leading up to the retreat. They prayed for our families and staff and later surprised our Executive Director, Deborah Magaya, by inviting her to attend the retreat. Their short visit of only a few hours greatly encouraged everyone!

Fellowship Church
August 2025
Members of Fellowship Church traveled to Tanzania to support the staff, children, and families of Kulea Villages while encouraging their missionaries, Deborah and Paul Magaya. During their visit, the team built a new basketball goal, rebuilt two large storage cabinets for baby clothing and supplies, completed needed office repairs, and strengthened relationships in the community through fellowship and service.
Ben's Summer
June - September 2025
Benjamin Carrier traveled from the United States to volunteer with Kulea Villages in Tanzania throughout the summer. Working alongside the Executive Director and local social workers, he assisted with a variety of projects each day, helping wherever he was needed. His projects included painting, hanging curtains, organizing storage areas, and completing other hands-on improvements around the office.
Ben's favorite part of the trip was traveling with the Country Director to Chalinze for two home visits. He was deeply moved as children from throughout the community gathered to greet them, excited that someone new had come to visit their village. It was an experience he will never forget.

AYC Mission
June 2025
On June 3, 2025, the Apostolic Youth Corps (AYC) mission team visited Kulea Villages in Tanzania. The team arrived just ten days after our office staff moved to a new location. They helped plant greenery, played with the babies, greeted the caregivers, and their nurse checked on some sick babies. In addition, they brought MANY needed supplies such as baby bottles, school supplies, sports items, and baby clothes. We greatly appreciated all they did at our center in just one day!

Amy and Kathy
February 2025
Amy Carrier and Kathy Elledge traveled to Tanzania to encourage their sister, Deborah Magaya, and brother-in-law, Paul, while experiencing the ministry of Kulea Villages firsthand. During their visit, they spent time with babies and caregivers at Maisha Matters, accompanied social workers on home visits, and gathered stories and photos to share with donors back home.
Seeing social workers walk alongside families—offering encouragement, practical guidance, and ongoing support—gave them a deeper appreciation for the life-changing impact of Kulea Villages and how even a small donation can help a family build a brighter future.
